Institutional Support for Annual Meeting Young Investigator Awards
The American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) encourages institutional support for its Annual Meeting Young Investigator Awards Program.
Annual Meeting Young Investigator Awards recognize the next generation of musculoskeletal researchers who submit top‐ranking abstracts to the ASBMR Annual Meeting. Award recipients receive a $1,000 honorarium and a plaque. The Society expects that $500 of the honorarium will be used to help offset travel expenses for the awardee to attend the Annual Meeting. The other $500 may be used by the recipient at his/her discretion. Eligible applicants must:
- Be a current ASBMR member
- Be the first and presenting author of the abstract. The award recipient must present the abstract in‐person at the ASBMR Annual Meeting
- Be a student/trainee or within five years of completion of a PhD, MD, residency training or equivalent
- Not be a past recipient of an ASBMR Young Investigator Award or ASBMR Fund for Research and Education Young Investigator Award
- Have not received any other ASBMR‐funded travel or young investigator support for the current year’s Annual Meeting
Young Investigator Award candidates identify themselves as being eligible for the award at the time of abstract submission. Identification of award winners is made by the Annual Meeting Young Investigator selection committee. The selection of award recipients is based solely on the eligible abstract's merit (abstract score) relative to all abstracts in its category; specifically, eligible abstracts are ranked/ordered by their calculated "percentile within category,” with the predetermined number of awards (at least 50 awards) allocated in the same order.
