The ASBMR Mentorship Program is an international initiative designed to provide tailored, one-on-one guidance to members across the globe. Open to all ASBMR members, regardless of country or career stage, the program centers on helping mentees achieve specific professional goals. Whether it’s refining a manuscript, securing a new position, preparing a grant application, or crafting a tenure package, mentors and mentees are paired to work directly with one another.
Each partnership is flexible and shaped by the needs of the mentee and mentor: while generally we suggest a once monthly meeting until the ASBMR Annual Meeting, the frequency, duration, and format of meetings are agreed upon together, ensuring that the mentorship is practical and effective for reaching the set goals. Recognizing that research and academic systems vary worldwide, we also do our best to match mentees with mentors from the same country or continent when this alignment is critical. For example, mentees seeking guidance on grant applications will be paired with mentors who understand their funding environment, whether NIH, ERC, or national funding bodies.
This initiative not only accelerates the career development of early-stage and mid-career investigators but also re-energizes senior ASBMR members, offering them a meaningful way to share expertise and connect with our vibrant, global community. Join us in this worldwide journey of mentorship, where expertise meets aspiration to foster growth, resilience, and collaboration in musculoskeletal research.
