I fel truly honored and humbled to receive this award. Dr. Larry Raisz was such an extraordinary scientist and mentor. This award is especially meaningful to me because it recognizes the kind of pre-clinical and translational research I have always been passionate about. This recognition also reflects the work of many people over the years, my trainees, collaborators, and mentors.

Just being awarded with something that's in honor of his name and his achievement and his originality sends a shiver down my spine. It also makes me feel a sense of pride because one of the main characteristics of Louis Avioli was his fierceness. I like to know that I'm awarded in honor of somebody who was fierce and passionate and so creative.

To be the recipient of the Stephen M. Krane Award is really a great honor. It's a wonderful recognition of the work of all the people in my lab, my students, my trainees, and my collaborators.
