     Message from ASBMR President Mary L. Bouxsein, Ph.D. – March 14, 2023

    Dear Colleagues:

This month I want to remind you of a couple approaching deadlines and highlight two Society announcements.

Volunteer Nominations Deadline is TOMORROW, March 15
The Society needs you! Please consider nominating yourself or a deserving colleague for a volunteer leadership position to serve on one of ASBMR’s standing committees prior to tomorrow’s deadline. As I mentioned last month, we are especially seeking members from outside the United States and young investigators to serve.  We have over 30 positions open!

Don’t have the time to serve in a leadership role? ASBMR also has numerous ad-hoc ways to get involved with the Society. Visit the ASBMR website to view our “microvolunteering” opportunities and learn how to apply.

Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Award Deadline Extended to April 15
If you are a female young investigator residing in an emerging or developing country or know of such an individual, I strongly recommend that you learn more about the ASBMR Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Award.

The award provides the resources necessary for the recipient to attend this year’s ASBMR Annual Meeting, receive mentorship from senior women in our field, and receive complimentary Society membership. Full details can be found on the ASBMR website.

Seeking Institutional Support for Annual Meeting Young Investigator Awards
We have launched a new program to provide institutions the ability to support ASBMR Annual Meeting Young Investigator Awards. Our goal is to raise awareness of the amazing institutions that support our Society, and can be a great recruiting tool for labs and departments! To learn more about this exciting new program, contact Deb Kroll, ASBMR Director of Development at dkroll@asbmr.org

Annual Meeting Abstract Submission Deadline is May 10
I am happy to announce that this year’s Annual Meeting abstract submission deadline is Wednesday, May 10.

This is the first time our Annual Meeting will be held in beautiful Vancouver. Please consider submitting your science and attending this fall -- we have a terrific program planned for you! The abstract submission portal will open in late March.

    Sincerely,
    Mary L. Bouxsein, Ph.D.
    ASBMR President
