Tomorrow is the last chance to submit an application for the 2019 ASBMR Fund for Research and Education Grants. The ASBMR Fund for Research and Education Research Grant provides a one-time award of up to $7,500 USD to three promising young scientists and physician-scientists in the bone field who are currently seeking to learn a new technique or to obtain additional funding to successfully complete a project. Grant submissions can be basic, clinical or translational and the primary focus must be on bone, mineral and musculoskeletal research. The application deadline is tomorrow, Friday, August 16. The Women in Bone and Mineral Research Committee invites all colleagues to attend its Networking & Dessert Reception at the ASBMR 2019 Annual Meeting. Moderated by the ASBMR Women’s Committee Chair, Michaela Reagan, Ph.D., panelists including Kate Ward, Ph.D., Christopher Hernandez, Ph.D., John Eisman, FRACP, MBBS, Ph.D., and Melissa Kacena, Ph.D., will discuss this year’s topic: “Bridging the Gender Gap: Continuing the Conversation.” With time for networking before and after, the panelists’ discussion will focus on what individual labs are doing to help make the work environment more open and equal for women in science.This reception will be held on Friday, September 20 from 8:00PM to 9:30 PM. The ASBMR Early Stage Investigator subcommittee is pleased to announce the first annual Art in Science Competition. The goal of this competition is to bring attention and awareness to the spectacular and the sublime in the images captured by researchers every day. The winning submissions will be featured on slides in between scientific sessions throughout the 2019 ASBMR Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL, USA.
