Late Breaking Abstract Submissions Open June 28!

Join thousands of scientists in the bone, mineral and musculoskeletal field that are attending this year’s ASBMR Annual Meeting. Late-breaking abstract submissions for the October meeting will open June 28, 2023, and close July 19, 2023, 5pm EDT. For more information about abstract submission, please visit the meeting website or contact the ASBMR Business Office at abstracts@asbmr.org.

What Does Pride Mean to You?

The ASBMR Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee invites you to show your support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Please join our celebration of Pride Month by submitting a testimonial for our social media campaign. To participate, just complete this form to tell us “what does ‘pride’ mean to you?”.

Selected submissions will be featured in social media spotlight posts throughout June, emphasizing inclusivity, positivity, and inspiration. ALL members are welcome to participate! One testimonial submitter will be chosen at random early in July to receive complimentary registration to the ASBMR 2023 Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Congratulations to the 2023 ASBMR Harold M. Frost Young Investigator Award Recipients!

ASBMR is pleased to announce the ten recipients of the 2023 ASBMR Harold M. Frost Young Investigator Awards! Harold Frost’s ideas transformed the face of skeletal biology and orthopedic science and he is regarded by many as being the most influential theoretician in skeletal biology of the 20th century. In addition to Harold Frost's many scientific accomplishments, he was an active participant in the ORS International Musculoskeletal Biology Workshop, an annual meeting that emphasizes interaction between young investigators and senior investigators. These awards allow early career ASBMR investigators to participate in the ORS International Musculoskeletal Biology Workshop in Midway, Utah, USA, July 22-27, 2023. UCSF 20^th Annual Osteoporosis CME Course

Register today for the 20^th Annual UCSF 1-day virtual course on the topics of epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis. This course is great for physicians and other clinicians working with osteoporosis patients. It will also benefit researchers, technologists, and pharmaceutical or device company professionals who would find helpful additional scientific background in the disease. No prior clinical or scientific training in osteoporosis is required.

Still Time to Submit Your Paper on Diabetes and Skeletal Health!

JBMR® Plus is calling for papers for a special issue, guest edited by Martina Rauner, PhD, and Viral N. Shah, MD, promoting research in the field of diabetes and skeletal health. Older adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes experience significantly increased risk for fractures than the general population, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. We encourage you to submit your work in this important field, and to advance our understanding of bone fragility in people with diabetes, on or before July 1 to be included in this special issue.

NIDCR to Host Symposium on Fibrous Dysplasia

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) is celebrating 25 years of research on fibrous dysplasia/McCune-Albright syndrome (FD/MAS) with an all-day symposium on Monday, September 11, 2023. This event will highlight NIDCR’s research advances on FD/MAS.

Seventeenth Fellows Forum on Metabolic Bone Diseases

The Endocrine Fellows Foundation (EFF) and the ASBMR are pleased to offer fellows who are training in osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases a unique opportunity to participate in the Seventeenth Fellows Forum on Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases, October 11-12, 2023, immediately prior to the ASBMR Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Faculty include a distinguished group of leaders: Drs. Teresita Bellido, John P. Bilezikian, Susan Bukata, Neil Binkley, Bart Clarke, Michael McClung, Paul Miller, Clifford Rosen, Ego Seeman, Deborah Sellmeyer and Michael Whyte. The topics to be presented and discussed will be timely and among the most important in our field. The program is also balanced to be equally strong in clinical and basic aspects of metabolic bone diseases.
