The microbiome is an aspect of human health associated with diseases and disease processes throughout the body. The microbiome is also a target for pharmaceutical treatments: an estimated 5 million bacterial genes reside in the human gut and are potentially targets for drug treatments that could lead to the next therapy for obesity, Alzheimer’s disease or even osteoporosis. In this webinar Dr. Hernandez will provide an introduction to the microbiome and a review of recent studies linking the gut microbiome to bone health. Additionally, he will summarize recent advancements in the field of microbiome research.
